• I ordered this yoga package recently. The larger mat is the perfect size. The bag is very sturdy and attractive.

• How do you know the difference between a good company and a great one? The great ones are the ones that make good on their errors. My order was wrong and the correct items were lot available for weeks. I was pretty upset with the order but online fitness went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. • This is the best yoga mat.
Took it on yoga retreat and it is the best yoga mat, compared to all the other ones that were flipping with the wind. It’s a very comfortable mat to do your practice. My gym offers other high end mats, but this mat is the best. I am thinking of buying a new one, since there are some spots that are starting to wear out after almost daily use for the last year, even though it still looks perfect. I just like the new colors. Mine is a beautiful black one....

*I just started yoga, and this is my first mat so I can't really compare it to others. I started trying Ashtanga yoga and was having some difficult with the poses on the floor/towels/carpet. Once I got this mat, everything really starting working and now I'm loving yoga and also loving this mat.

I'm very happy that after much research and reading reviews I picked this mat. It was more expensive than I wanted to spend on my first mat but from other's advice, it was better to buy the best mat possible than have a collection of 3 or 4 cheaper mats that really don't match up to the quality and performance of the Manduka mats.

Yes it was smelly in the beginning, but after about 2 weeks or so the smell is gone. I'll admit it was pretty bad in the beginning. All I did was leave the mat unrolled on the back of a few chairs to give it as much air flow and air contact. It's fine now.

Yes it's heavy, but I don't travel with it so the weight is not really an issue with me. I don't mind folding it up and moving it from room to room.

I LOVE that it lays perfectly flat - right from the start. No curled edges/ends. It does want to unroll, but some Velcro straps works just fine for storage. And again, IT LAYS FLAT!!! Again, I don't travel with it so maybe the unrolling issue is a problem for transportation.

I love that it's sticky. Being new at this the stickiness helps me keep the poses and prevents me from cheating or being lazy and dragging my feet from pose to pose. I have not had any slipping problems.

I do strongly believe that this mat has helped me appreciate and enjoy yoga more. I started two months ago and hopefully it will be a lifetime of yoga with this mat. A big thanks to the Manduka company.

**So I got the Manduka eKO mat after doing lots and lots of research on yoga mats. I've been getting serious with my yoga, so I wanted a mat that would last and provide me with the grip that I need. Please note that this mat is probably one of the heaviest mats out there (unless we are talking about the Manduka Black Mat, which is heavier), but it's totally worth it. It feels like a thin mat, but it's really cushy and supportive. I will admit that the strong rubber smell got to me at first, but after hanging it outside for more than a week and wiping it down with a mixture of water and apple cider vinegar (1 to 1 ratio), the smell is bearable and getting much better. Please note that there is a correct "side" to the mat. The side with the frog on the label (the side that is all rubbery) is the correct side. I've seen other people use the wrong side before, and I don't understand how they can stand it because that side has no grip. The side with the frog on the label will provide you with incredible grip. I sweat a lot and would always slip on my old mat. I have not slipped yet on this Manduka mat and hopefully, it will last me a long time! Namaste!

Prior to obtaining the Manduka eKO Lite, I practiced for years on a thin, inexpensive yoga mat that I had received as part of a kit. I always thought that I had no need of a pricey yoga mat; my old mat was a familiar friend, and it suited me fine. But from the moment I rolled out my new eKO Lite, I knew I had been wrong.

First of all, the eKO Lite, although about the same thickness as my old mat (1/8") had a much weightier feel; despite having been rolled up in a box for shipment, it immediately lay completely flat, virtually hugging the floor, with absolutely no lumps or buckling of any kind. Several other reviewers have mentioned that this mat has an odor; this is something that Manduka discusses on their web site, as it is related to the natural products which are used to create the mat. And yes, my mat did have a fairly strong, natural rubber scent when I first received it. However, I didn't find this scent to be particularly unpleasant, and it didn't stop me from using the mat the day after I received it. Furthermore, as instructed by Manduka, I left my mat unrolled for a few weeks, and now, after owning it for about a month, I can barely discern any smell at all.

Now, on to the most important issue: practicing with the eKO Lite! I am so impressed by the degree to which the surface of this mat grips my hands and feet during asanas--although I had thought my old mat was fine, the difference is astounding. Furthermore, my former mat tended to shift around under my feet a bit while performing certain standing postures, such as the warrior poses, but the eKO Lite does not--as mentioned above, it gripes my feet AND the floor, so I stay in place and the mat does too. I am not sure why others mentioned problems with sliding on this mat, as I have not had this issue at all, although I admit, I am not much of a sweater (perhaps those who sweat profusely would be happier with Manduka's original Black mat, which is much thicker and supposedly good for this purpose; I haven't tried it myself).

Finally, in terms of aesthetics: my eKO Lite is green (my favorite color!), and the Moss truly is a pretty shade, yet another thing to like about my new mat. The only (minor) downside about this mat is the size. I realize that because it is the eKO "Lite," it is designed to be the smaller, thinner, lighter, more travel-friendly version of Manduka's original eKO mat, which comes in at 71" x 26" and 7 lbs. (the eKO Lite weighs only 3.5 lbs.). Still, for this price, I still would've liked to have have seen a slightly larger than standard-sized mat, even if it was only to add a single extra inch all around. I should also note that at 1/8" thick, this is not a particularly cushy mat--that is fine with me, but if you like a thicker mat, you may want to go with the original eKO, which is 3/16".

Overall, however, I am extremely happy with my Manduka eKO Lite mat--it has definitely made practicing yoga even more pleasurable! I wouldn't hesitate to recommended trying the eKO Lite (or the eKO if you need more cushioning) to anyone wanting a high quality, high performance, and attractive mat that's environmentally friendly too.

• According my yoga instructor and my personal experience, this black mat pro is the very best mat on the planet. It is not cushy, but very stable and solid for all of my yoga needs. I am 6-1 and 175, and I have the 85 inch model that is wider and longer than normal and I don't need to adjust my position on the mat nearly as much as I used to. Colleagues say this mat will last a lifetime and I believe them. One of my colleagues has had her mat for 8 years, and no breakdown yet. Only negative is heavy weight, but you get what you pay for--the only mat you'll ever need. Take my advice and get the carry bag--you'll need it.

• As others have said, this is a great mat. The 1/4" pad thickness is perfect and, while heavy, it is easy enough to move around, and the lifetime warranty is a plus, though I doubt I'll ever have to take advantage of it. For me, what sets this mat apart is its length. I'm not 85" tall (73" in fact), but really appreciate that the extra length means that I no longer find myself extending my legs or arms off the mat. I'm always on it and I like that feeling and the associated comfort. If there is a negative, it is the paucity of choices for mat towels. Manduka only has two and neither is a particularly interesting color.

• The Manduka mat is as good as everyone says it is; much sturdier and provides more support than a sticky mat; sort of like the difference between really good running shoes and spongy flip flops. The bag is good and this was a good deal on it. I wouldn't have paid full price to buy the bag separately. I did have problems with the bag's lining getting caught in the zipper initially and had to pull out my sewing kit. I probably could have returned it, but it was an easy one-time fix. All in all, satisfied.

• The Manduka BlackMatPRO mat is by far the very best mat that you can buy. Yes, it is quite a price jump from others, but it is money well spent. My last mat (Lululemon) started falling apart after two years of use - a disappointment, since I spent $65 on it. This mat has excellent support and traction.
My yoga instructor recommended that I wipe it down with a soft cloth with mild dishsoap and water before first using it, as it has a coating on it, which causes your hands and feet to slip.
This mat helps you get more out of your practice - the length and width of the mat also allow you to be on your mat for most poses.
An excellent investment! The only mat to buy if you are serious about your practice.

The MatSak is also amazing. There is ample space for your mat on one side, and your towel, straps, change of clothes and wallet on the other. Simply awesome.

I got this for my fiancee who is a yoga teacher. she has used it constantly for practice and preparation of lessons. on all types of surfaces from wood to rough concreet, and she loves it. i have used it a few times and it is the most comfortable mat i have ever used. it doesn't slip on the floor (any surface) and it dosn't let you slip either.

A bit more expensive than other mats and heavy. but there is no question that it is built to last and the browny points alone would be worth it!

I would recommend it in a second for any serious or professional yogi.


I obsessed about whether to purchase the regular size Manduka or the longer 85" model. I am only 5'9" tall and was told by almost everyone that unless you are 6' tall or over you don't need the longer mat. Besides, the longer model is "so" heavy. As usual, I went my own way and purchased the longer mat and am glad I did. I love the longer mat. First of all, when I am completely stretched out on my stomach, my entire body is on the mat, face, hands and feet--not on the floor. I like the balanced feeling of every part of me being on the mat. Also, when I do my various asanas, I can now start in different spots on the mat and therefore put less wear and tear on the same spots. Second, I am afraid I don't understand the "weight" issue? The 71 inch model weighs 6.5 pounds, this one weights 9 pounds. For me that's not much of a difference, especially since I am only carrying the mat from the parking lot to the yoga room, not backpacking across India. Most of the time the mat is at home anyway.

As far as the Manduka mat in general, I have used two other mats and this one provides a lot more support. I find it to be very dense and firm, with just enough tactile feeling. And, the mat does not move around on me. I really like that. My yoga teacher said this was the best mat around.I am glad I listened to her sage advice.

I bought this mat in the hopes of enjoying the benefits of the high density "black mat" made by manduka without the bulkiness of that mat. first of all, either of the manduka mats is far better than the versions other companies have produced in response to the mat's popularity. there is not the heavy industrial smell to the mat that can get in the air, your clothes, and skin. their density makes it far and away a completely different experience than the typical yoga mat. they are more stable and cushion without being squishy. they are very sturdy and resilient and will last a long time, so your yoga mats will not end up littering the environment over time. between the two manduka mats, i favor this one because it is much easier to transport and store and i do not notice any loss of comfort from the slight difference in thickness (3/16" instead of 1/4"). if you are taller or heavier than average, do very vigorous yoga workouts, or have particularly sensitive joints, you might prefer the manduka black mat, particularly as it comes in an extra long style. but i found this mat at least as stable (perhaps more so), and more versatile, just the thing for a secure and comfortable support for yoga. another option in using this mat is to lay a cotton yoga rug on top of it. the cotton absorbs sweat and can be washed easily, so your mat will last even longer and you get a more natural feel against the skin during practice. cotton rugs are the traditional support for yoga, particularly ashtanga, and this mat and rug combination is often recommended by fine teachers as the best way to get the best of both worlds. if that's not enough, the $45 price i paid through amazon is far better than i saw in stores or other websites. you just can't go wrong with this mat.
